Incat to Build New Vessel for Trinidad & Tobago

Australian shipbuilder Incat Tasmania has received an order from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for the construction of a fast passenger/cargo ferry.

Scheduled for delivery in 2020, the newbuilding will be able to carry 1,000 passengers and 239 cars or a combination of trucks and cars.

As explained, the new vessel is intended for the Trinidad & Tobago inter-island seabridge which has previously been served by two Incat vessels, the T&T Express and T&T Spirit.

“Incat is pleased that the Trinidad and Tobago Government has made the decision to invest further in their vital seabridge connection with the purchase a newbuild vessel and we look forward to delivering their new ship in 2020,” Robert Clifford, Incat Chairman, commented.

Incat will soon commence construction of the Trinidad ferry at the shipyard in Hobart Tasmania.

As with the previous two Incat ferries that operated on the seabridge, the new vessel will incorporate a range of onboard catering facilities and the forward VIP area. The vessel will also include a prisoner holding cell for transfers between Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinidad and Tobago ordered recently another high speed vehicle and passenger catamaran. The vessel will be built by Australian shipbuilder Austal and is slated for delivery also in 2020.
