Transport Canada plans to buy a 2007-built Norwegian double-ended car passenger ferry, the Fanafjord, to replace the M/V Holiday Island, one of two vessels used to provide service between Wood Islands, PEI, and Caribou, Nova Scotia.
The Fanafjord will start sailing in March 2024, Norwegian Broker J. Gran & Co. has listed her for sale at 14 Million Euro. She sailed in Germany on the River Elbe, connecting Cuxhaven with Brunsbüttel, under the name Greenferry 1 between march and October 2021. Poor load factors and high LNG prices caused operator Elbferry to liquidate, as local authorities.
