Hello, At the request of some interested parties I am trying to make a photo building report of my model of the AHTS Vessel Maersk Topper. Just a short introduction about myself. My Name is Leen Boers and I live in a small village near Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I work as a VTS operator at VTS Center Dordrecht. My hobby is making model ships of Maersk Supply Services. In 2010 I finnished a model of the Maersk Master (the old lady) The models are built in 1/50 scale.
Then in 2010/2011 I started looking for the right information that I need to make a ship model as detailed as possible and all functions working. After a difficult start (little information from MSS office) I got to know the right people who help me tremendously to this day. I am very grateful to them for that.

The model of the Maersk Topper will have the following dimensions:
Length 146cm
Width 40cm
Weight 54kg

As with the Maersk Master I want to make as many functions as possible working. What was a real challenge with the Maersk Master was to make a perfect look-alike and working CPP of the ManDiesel MK4 (diameter 100mm). That was successful then and the propeller still works perfectly after more than 13 years of sailing.
For the Maersk Topper I made 3 CPP (1 spare) and have a diameter of 80mm.

Below is an overview of the functions that will all work.
2x 80mm main CPP
2x Bow Thrusters
2x Stern Thrusters
FiFi installation
Full Working AHT winchg (3 drums)
spooling gear
Towing pins (separate and quick release)
2 sets shark jaws
Working free fall Bow anchors
Mooring winches bow and stern
Neon deck lights more than 100pc
whistle lights
Navigation lights

And new for me micro cameras which I can see on an LCD screen on the RC control.
1 camera with overview aft deck
1 camera in the winch garage to see if the thread is properly spooled on the drum.
1 camera with overview foredeck and bowview
2 cameras in the ceiling wheelhouse which look over the consoles to the fore and aft deck.
1 micro camera build in the Saematt search light

I will start the photo build log with the hull and post new photos regularly.
The hull is made in the traditional way of a wooden rib frame which is covered with wooden slats. (black hull) After much filling and spraying, a two-part polyester mold (negative) was made of this. (green mold) The model hull is then laminated in the negative (blue hull)
