SUNSTONE SHIPS ANNOUNCED THE LAUNCHING OF THE FIFTH INFINITY-CLASS VESSEL OCEAN ODYSSEY ON OCTOBER 27, 2021

Miami, Florida, November 9, 2021 - SunStone Ships, the largest tonnage provider in the expedition market, announced the successful launch of their fifth next-generation, INFINITY-Class Vessel (CMHI 196-5).

With a goal of marrying European design and quality with Chinese ship-building efficiency, the INFINITY-Class delivers cutting-edge design, and significant operating efficiencies.

SunStone CEO, Niels-Erik Lund, commented, “We are very pleased with the high quality, design solutions and equipment packages. The Launching Ceremony of the OCEAN ODYSSEY (CMHI 196-5) took place at China Merchant Heavy Industries in Haimen, China. The Vessel will sail worldwide year-round expedition cruises for Vantage Travel.

INFINITY Class Vessels are 104 meters long, and 18 meters wide, with a draft of 5.1 meters. They feature a passenger capacity between 130-200 and a crew capacity between 85 and 115. The Vessels are Ice Class 1A, Polar Code 6 and are being built with Safe Return to Port, Dynamic Positioning and zero speed stabilizing. They are small enough to give an exclusive atmosphere and yet large enough to yield all expected services and facilities such as a swimming pool, bar and restaurants, lounges, boutique, gym and spa.

Current INFINITY Class new-builds under way after the delivery of the GREG MORTIMER, the OCEAN EXPLORER and the OCEAN VICTORY are; the SYLVIA EARLE, the OCEAN ODYSSEY, the OCEAN ALBATROS and the OCEAN DISCOVERER. All vessels ordered have long-term charter agreements in place.

SUNSTONE SHIPS ANNOUNCED KEEL LAYING CEREMONY ON THE SIXTH INFINITY-CLASS VESSEL OCEAN ALBATROS ON JANUARY 20TH, 2022.

Miami, Florida, January 24, 2022 – SunStone Ships, the world’s largest tonnage provider to the expedition cruise industry, announces the successful keel laying of the OCEAN ALBATROS, the sixth vessel in their series of INFINITY CLASS new-builds.

The INFINITY series is the product of a unique collaboration between European design and technology and Chinese shipbuilding efficiency resulting in an expedition cruise vessel with innovative features, top-class stability, and high operating efficiency.

The Keel Laying Ceremony of the OCEAN ALBATROS (CMHI 196-6) took place at China Merchant Heavy Industries in Haimen, China. The vessel will be on year-round charter to the Danish travel company Albatros Expeditions, who is also the charterer of SunStone’s OCEAN VICTORY and OCEAN ATLANTIC.

SunStone’s Chairman, Niels-Erik Lund, commented: “We are very pleased that even with the very difficult situation with the COVID Pandemic, our INFINITY new building series is moving forward at a satisfactory pace. Having three INFINITY vessels in operation, taking delivery of the next two INFINITY vessels in spring of 2022, and now the keel laying of the sixth vessel, is a very satisfactory accomplishment.”

Three INFINITY Class new-builds, the GREG MORTIMER, the OCEAN EXPLORER, and the OCEAN VICTORY, have already been delivered and are now in operation. The SYLVIA EARLE with be delivered in March 2022, followed by the OCEAN ODYSSEY in April 2022. The OCEAN ALBATROS will be delivered in March 2023. All vessels ordered have long-term charter agreements in place.

Ulstein har fått kontrakt på nytt cruiseskip


Det amerikanske reiarlaget SunStone Ships går for eit nytt cruiseskip i deira INFINITY-klasse.
Alle fartøya i denne klassa er designa av Ulstein Design & Solutions AS. Skipa er dei første som tok i bruk X-BOW-designet i cruiseindustrien.
Skipet har plass til 199 passasjerar og eit mannskap på 101.
– Vi er svært glade for å ha signert ein ny kontrakt med CMHI Haimen-verftet for bygging av eit nytt ekspedisjonscruisefartøy av ULSTEIN CX103-designet, seier Lars Ståle Skoge, kommersiell direktør i Ulstein Design & Solutions i ei pressemelding.

Ocean Explorer and OceanOdyssey Return to Operation

SunStone Maritime Group A/S is pleased to announce the reactivation of two Infinity Class Expedition vessels with multi-year charters signed for the Ocean Explorer and the Ocean Odyssey. The Ocean Explorer will return to polar cruising in October 2024, when Quark Expeditions, a long-term client of SunStone, adds the vessel to its fleet of expedition vessels. The Ocean Odyssey will operate outside the cruise market.

In October 2024, the Quark charter of the Ocean Adventurer ends, after which time this vessel will be available for sale or charter.

About the Infinity Class
The Infinity Class newbuilds redefine the standards of expedition cruising with its cutting-edge design and unparalleled features. In addition to Ice Class 1A and Polar Class 6, the vessels feature zero-speed stabilization, virtual anchoring, and Safe Return to Port. The Infinity vessels, having a capacity of up to 95 passenger cabins, most with balconies, promise an immersive and comfortable experience for travellers. The ships house a range of amenities, including restaurants, lecture space, lounges, a 180-degree indoor observation deck, outdoor viewing areas, a gym, sauna, spa, and a custom-designed platform catering to kayakers and divers.

Zodiac excursions are supported through four sea-level loading platforms and a mud room, ensuring seamless operations for off-board activities.
