TT-Line, Bygg nr.

The new Nils Holgersson is finished - waiting in China for the delivery-trip to Trelleborg... . Or maybe more test-trips will follow before... (?), recorded top-speed some weeks ago was 25 knots.
Marinetraffic has 2 ships actually with the same name... - check "Jinling88" for to find the new ferry... .

No new or more ships or new shipnames to find in the timetable at the moment, but the old Nils Holgersson from 2001 need a new name soon... . The line to Poland is "fullbooked" from february for cars and for trucks only 1 month in advance... open for bookings (?).

No, these are tug-masters, what you call Zugmaschienen (on the first picture with a piggy-back on it, I believe the German word is Sattelschlepper?

Obviously the ship companies are not prepared to pay for more than ten tug masters, the port of Trelleborg has more than 40 of them available. You get what you pay for. But it's not only an organisation problem – until the new port of Trelleborg is fully established there simply isn't room for parking piggy-backs closer to the ferry berths 9, 10 and 13.

Well, at least in Trelleborg the buses from the terminal drive the passengers on board, and the check-in time for gangway passengers is only 30 minutes to TT-Line (1 hour for Stena Line). Unity Line don't take gangway passengers at all in Trelleborg (and in Ystad you have to walk and and walk and.........) I'm extremely glad that a bus takes me to the ferries in Trelleborg and hate those loooooong tubes in f.x. Stockholm Värtahamnen, Ystad, Visby or Frederikshavn. And being the biggest ro/ro port in Scandinavia it would be impossible to get walking distance to the ferry berths in Trelleborg! Buses is also used in some airports like Frankfurt/Main, again much better than the loooooooong tubes of f.x. Kastrup/Copenhagen. At the Viking Line ferry terminal in Helsinki they at least have rolling pavements. Walking distances doesn't disappear just because you're inside a tube.

Don't see the point with "last minute boarding" – 30 minutes shouldn't be a problem for anybody.

The problem is leaving the ferry, you'll have to wait till the car deck is emptied. It's much worse in Świnoujście, where there is no bus at all, nor a gangway to he terminal for the TT-Line ferries, and in Travemünde, where you have to walk the entire car deck and link-span after the car deck is emptied, to the bus. But there should absolutely be gangways, so that the passengers wouldn't have to use the car deck; that you only have for HUCKLEBERRY FINN and TOM SAWYER in Trelleborg, berth 2, and Rostock, and for NILS HLGERSSON in Travemünde.

Small waiting-hall with ticket-office and 2 cheap bridges for 4 RoPax-ferries / fast ferries flexible use. Parden me, bullshit! 1) Trelleborg has more than 4 ro/pax ferries at the same time. 2) You can't have cheap bridges for 5 ro/pax ferries with 30000-4000 lane meters each to unload and load, unless you expect the passengers to walk miles (like in Frederikshavn). Repeat: Walking distances doesn't disappear just because you're inside a tube.

Arriving by ferry is not the responsibility of the town (city). I think the port definitely takes it's responsibility, by taking the passengers to a centrally situated ferry terminal, one block from the town centre and one block from the railway station (unlike Travemünde, where the ferry terminal is within a closed ISPS port, only reachable by an irregular town bus). But there could have been gangways to the ferries, like in Rostock and Trelleborg's berth 2 for HUCKLEBERRY FINN and TOM SAWYER. Your links to the ports on the Canary Islands and Greece, and my own experiences as gangway passenger on the ferries in the Greek archipelago, or between Italy snd Corsica do in absolutely now way impress me, when it comes to port facilities, but I agree that the escalators up to the reception is something the TT-Line should have as well.

But I fear this correspondence long since has lost its interest to anybody but us two, so I think we should end it here.:)

NEW NEWS:
The new NILS HOLGERSSON
is a little bit delayed - arriving in Germany is now planned for CIRCA mid/end April.
And - big surprise - she will then NOT operate the "old" main-route Travemünde-Trelleborg !
Instead she is now from 1st may in the timetable possible to book daily on the route Trelleborg-Swinoujscie !
Furthermore here 2 departures normally daily with mostly the biggest and newest ferries (NILS HOLGERSSON + PETER PAN (from 2001),
some days PETER PAN is also going to Travemünde and another ferry is going as 2nd ship to Swinoujscie.

To operate now suddenly the 2 newest and biggest ferries to Polen can only be the reason that Polferries really will buy / has bought the HONFLEUR (?) ! Only with the new NILS HOLGERSSON TT has a similar ferry and with the PETER PAN a 2nd ferry which is still better than the older other polish ferries.

So now in march i am awaiting 2nd sea-trials in China and then (i hope so) departure to Germany... .

This saturday 3.sept. is free sightseeing interior of the new Nils Holgersson in the port of Trelleborg because of the "harbour-day".
There is a bus leaving ca. 10:00, 10:40 and 11:15 from "Lastkajen" in the port of Trelleborg to the ferry.
If i have understand the TT-newsletter right it will be guided tours, no tickets or registration before needed.
Who has time to visit this new ferry and tell us here personally impressions and maybe also pictures ? (Risberg ?)
((From Oslo are Flixbus + VyBus4you going directly without change to Malmö in the night from 2.sept. to 3.sept. from 42,99 Euro... + regio-train or bus to Trelleborg 5,-/6,-))

- There are reports from holiday-travellers in travel-pages that a lot of space onboard is closed for normal passengers and that there are much too less seats onboard. Would confirm my opinion that it is nonsens with the actually trend on RoPax-newbuildings to separate truck-drivers strictly from normal passengers with big own restaurants, lounges and bars only to use for truck-drivers. Double-staff needed and in winter the truck-driver-spaces are full - and now on summer-weekends, 200 Holiday-car-families x 4 Pers. at the "changing-days" on weekends = 800 Pax max. capacity is fast reached without any truck. But there are much much much less seats than 800 ? So all these new RoPax are theoretic big ferries, but which very less small public space for normal travellers only.
- What about the sauna and whirlpool-area ? Free of any costs as in the 90ies and on the Finnlines-ferries or expensive ?
There is nowhere a picture, nowhere a drawing from sauna/pool.
- What about the bars ? On the TT-websites they are speaking from 5 (!) bars onboard. But travellers onboard has found only 1 open bar - and this was open for short-time only and with limited drinks to choose... . So there is a very big difference between TT-marketing and TT-reality... (?).
- What kind of floor / carpet in public spaces ?
- Has the stairhouses really a terrible design looking as like from 1957 or 1959 ?

Lastkajen?!? Not Hamnterminalen? You can't go to ferry berth 14 (which I assume is "Lastkajen") by your own. Maybe the ferry is docked at berth 14?

I'we now found out that the entrance to "Harbour day" is at "Logistikcenter", Strandridareg 2 (shown on Google map). Buses from Hamnterminalen, Hamng 9 (one block from Trelleborg Central station). Buses to NILS HOLGERSSON from "Logistikcenter" at 10.15, 10.45 and 11.15.

Nice to hear again from you, Risberg - i read often your infos about the Trelleborg-ferry-timetable-problems in fartygssidan... .
The TT-newsletter says "Lastkajen" - but maybe an error of an office-staff-person... or maybe "Handelskajen" is the same as "Lastkajen". Interested persons are maybe better early at the port, then - if the location is wrong - there is still time to walk around the harbour to the right location... .
The bustimes of Risberg are the corrects !

Maybe also the other ferry-companies are offering "visnings" of a ferry ?
Have found a link from june about a TT "visning" for VIPs:
https://www.trelleborgshamn.se/visning-ombord-pa-nya-nils-holgersson/
As the Lübecker Hafenrundschau has said "the sundeck is really very big and nice"... .

What's your name on Fartygssidan? So maybe I should continue to report from Trelleborg there? I stopped, because I felt as I was nearly the only one who contributed to that site. Then started a discussion about Stockholm - Finland ferries and more participants joned.
