Peter Pan undergoes lengthening work at Bremerhaven

The lengthening of TT-Line’s Peter Pan ferry is well under way at Bremerhaven in Germany.

Returning to where she was constructed, Peter Pan was delivered by SSW Fähr und Spezialschiffbau at the shipyard 16 years earlier.

The German ferry operator said via social media that Peter Pan would be 30 metres longer when it returned to operate on the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal.

TT-Line: More cargo capacity on the “bridge” to Sweden

With 900,000 passengers a year and more than 400,000 freight units, the ferry company is the market leader in direct traffic between the continent and southern Sweden

After their shipyard stay in Bremerhaven, the 30-meter longer TT-Line Premium ferry MS “Peter Pan” made it back to the pier in Trelleborg on 30 May 2018. Delayed but almost retreaded, the ferry immediately commences scheduled service and operates on the TT-Line routes between Trelleborg and Travemünde, Trelleborg and Rosto
ck, as well as Trelleborg and Swinoujscie.

The Swedish-flagged MV “Peter Pan” already was one of the most eco-friendly ferries in the Baltic Sea before the conversion, thanks to its diesel-electric POD drive. During the shipyard stay, the ship has now also received a new, flow-optimized and fuel-efficient bead bow. Thanks to the new bulge and the higher freight capacity, the emission balance of the already environmentally friendly TT-Line fleet will improve significantly. On the “Peter Pan”, the emissions per transported vehicle unit will be reduced by up to 25 per cent as a result of these measures.

As a result of the extension to just under 220 meters and the installation of an additional cargo deck, the “Peter Pan” now has an approximate 25 percent increase in freight capacity of around 3,000 load meters. This allows TT-Line to offer additional freight capacity on all routes
The private shipping group TT-Line offers with six modern Ropax ferries for more than 50 years now, a fast, environmentally friendly and affordable connection across the Baltic Sea between Germany, Poland and Sweden. More than 600 employees generate annual revenues of around EUR 160 million. The German entrepreneurs Dr. Arend Oetker and Dr. Bernhard Termühlen keep the shares of Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG, the holding company of the TT-Line.
