Ultra Deep Solutions Building Well Intervention Vessel

Singapore-based Ultra Deep Solutions has signed a letter of intent to build a SALT 310 well intervention vessel at China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) yard in Shenzhen.

The vessel, 162 meters by 32 meters, will be capable of well intervention, flex lay and rigid pipe lay in 3000 meter water depths. The 3-in-1 tower designed by Huisman is said to be the first of it’s kind ever built.

The crane is Huisman built 600t to 1000t which can work in depths of 3000 meters. Also on the vessel is a 650 msw hydrogen saturation system. In addition, there are 2 WROVs 250 HP built into hangars. The vessel comes with 2 hydrogen refineries built into the design.

Shel Hutton, CEO of UDS, said: “I would like to thank all of you who were involved to make this deal come together. CMHI, SALT and Huisman for their ongoing creativity for design. Also I would like to thank FTE, JFD, Fathom Systems and DNV-GL for their hard-work to get us this far with Hydrogen. We will continue to go forward with technology and hybrid ships now. Ultra Deep Solutions kicks off the start of their Well Intervention new build vessel program. The first vessel will be a "Hybrid" ship. the SALT design 162 m x 34 m will have energy storage power integrated. The vessel will have a build time of 34-36 months to meet our end clients schedule. The Ultra Deep "Rembrandt" will have a 600-1000 t Huisman hybrid crane. Also the vessel will come with the new Huisman 3 in 1 tower. The 2700 m2 open deck space has the capacity for 10 reels of Flexible. This vessel will be the 1 st of 5 hybrid ships we build in the coming 14 months. These vessels will be very efficient on fuel/electrical power to meet the Oil and Gas companies future expectations.

"Ultra Deep Solutions confirms that their “Well Intervention, Flex-Lay, DSCV” vessel will be of a SALT design. The vessel, which is 160 meters by 32 meter breadth, will be constructed in Asia. The vessel has DP3 capabilities (9.9 9.9 9.9 9.6 ERN). Other features on this highly spec'ed 33,000 BHP vessel include a 1000-ton crane, able to lower down to a depth of 3000 meters. The vessel has a 24 men Twin Bell Saturation system, which has the capability to work at 550 MSW. The 2 WROV also enhance the working capabilities.
CEO Shel Hutton”

‘Our Well Intervention vessel had been in the design stage for most of 2015. There were many factors in the market that changed our thinking for the future of the company. Ultra Deep Solutions' goals have remained the same during this downturn. The company’s focus has always stayed positive and for our Group to find a footing in the future of the “Oil and Gas industry”. We have always maintained that there will be a turn-around in the industry by 2017-2018. Our ‘highly” spec'ed vessel will be delivered at the end of 2017 as planned. The challenges we face ahead will only make Ultra Deep Solutions a stronger company.”
